Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center named in med-mal suit

Richter

A Cook County woman is suing over claims a medical center's negligence caused her severe complications.

Adgrian Whitelow filed a lawsuit March 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, citing medical malpractice.

Whitelow claims she was admitted to the medical center on March 25, 2012 for pneumonia, uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension. According to the suit, she was at high risk for ulcers as a result of her medical condition.

The complaint states that the defendant's negligence on March 31, 2012 caused Whitelow to develop a skin tear and breakdown on her right buttock that progressed into stage IV pressure ulcers, requiring surgery.

She is seeking damages in excess of the courts jurisdictional requisite and is being represented by Chicago attorney Paul D. Richter of Kralovec, Jambois and Schwartz.
