Rooftop collapse results in lawsuit against Horsehead Corp.

A man is suing over claims he sustained injuries as a result of an unsafe workplace.

Joel Adams filed a lawsuit March 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Horsehead Corporation, citing negligence.

According to the suit, Adams was injured on March 12, 2013, when the brick roof he was working on at 2701 E. 114th St. in Chicago suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall.

He claims the defendant didn't inspect the premises properly and was negligent in providing a safe workplace for Adams.

Adams is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented by Joliet attorneys Jeffrey S. Taylor and Jacob E. Gancarczyk of Spesia & Ayers.
