Addison Ice Arena sued after patron fell on ice

Addisonice

A Lombard resident is suing Addison Ice Arena, claiming its poorly maintained ice rink caused his injury.

Eric J. Cismesia filed a lawsuit on March 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Addison Ice LLC, doing business as Addison Ice Arena, citing negligence.

According to the suit, Cismesia went ice skating at the defendant's business at 475 Grace St. in Addison on June 30, when he fell and was injured.

The suit alleges the defendant repairing one of its two rinks and claimed the other rink was safe for use. Cismesia contends he fell on the ice as a result of a severe drop off in the rink and space between the ice surface and the boards.

Cismesia is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Wheaton attorney William P. McGowen III of McGowen and McGowen P.C.
