Woman sues Walgreens for dispensing wrong medicine dosage

A pharmacy is being sued over claims it provided the wrong dose of a prescription medication.

Denise Harris filed a lawsuit March 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co. Inc., doing business as Walgreens Pharmacy, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Harris presented a prescription to be filled at the Walgreens at 1500 W. Wilson Ave. in Chicago on March 29, 2012. The suit alleges Walgreens dispensed a 100 mg per day dose of her prescription instead of the prescribed 50 mg dose.

Harris claims as a result of the defendant dispensing the wrong dose, she sustained injuries and lost her job.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Jacqueline Kanter of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz.
