A medical doctor is suing two other doctors, claiming they were negligent while performing a ureteroscopy.
Dr. David Lopata filed a lawsuit April 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Drs. Ervin Kocjancic and Jaspreet Joneja.
According to the suit, Lopata was a patient of Kocjancic and Joneja on July 28, 2012, when they performed a ureteroscopy, an examination of the urinary tract in which a viewing instrument is typically used.
Lopata alleges the defendants were negligent during the procedure, including improperly using Glidewire, using a semi-rigid viewing instrument, failing to place a stent despite damage and negligently using medical equipment.
Lopata is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented by Michael S. Shinsky and Erin R. Doyle of Kralovec Jambois & Schwartz.
