A Cook County nursing home is facing suit in relation to a resident's death.

Arlene Lynch, as administrator of the Estate of Carmen Scamardo, filed a lawsuit April 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Bravo Care of Inverness Inc. and Rosewood Care Center of Inverness, citing negligence and wrongful death.

According to the suit, Scamardo was a resident at the defendant's facility at 1800 W. Colonial Parkway in Inverness from Dec. 20, 2011 until Sept. 14, 2012, during which time he required supervision and extensive assistance due to high risk for falling.

Lynch claims Scamardo fell on a table with a large television on it on Sept. 14, 2012, causing the television to fall on top of him, crushing him and resulting in head, neck, back and hip injuries. She alleges the injuries he sustained on that day contributed to his  Oct. 4, 2012 death.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Chicago attorney Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna and Mertz P.C.
