The owners and manager of a Maywood apartment complex are facing a lawsuit after a visitor fell from a balcony.

Jerrod Blackman filed a lawsuit April 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Andre Nelson and Global Estates LLC, citing negligence.

The complaint states Blackman was visiting a tenant at the defendants' apartment complex at 2109 S. Fifth Ave. in Maywood on May 23, 2010, when he fell approximately 12 feet after the railing he was leaning against broke free from the building.

Blackman is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by Daniel R. Seidman of Law Offices of Steven J. Seidman.
