City of Chicago employee sues after sustaining injury on ramp

A general contractor is being sued by a city worker who claims he fell on an unsafe pedestrian ramp.

Michael Torres filed a lawsuit April 11 in the Cook County Circuit Court against F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates, citing negligence.

The complaint states the defendant served as the general contractor for a construction project at the Springfield Pumping Station at 1747 N. Springfield Ave. in Chicago. Torres claims he was working there as an employee of the city on Jan. 13, 2013, when he tripped and fell on an unsafe pedestrian ramp.

Torres is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by Steven M. Gleason of Nilson, Stookal, Gleason & Caputo Ltd.
