University of Chicago Medical Center, doctors accused of failing to diagnose aneurysm

A local hospital and four doctors are being sued over accusations they failed to diagnose a a woman's aneurysm.

Kathleen Sievers filed a lawsuit April 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against University of Chicago Medical Center and Drs. Cheng Hong, Ryan Lo, Ben Zion Roitberg and Sophia Shakur MD, citing medical negligence.

The complaint states Sievers went to the University of Chicago Medical Center on April 14, 2012 with complaints of a headache, neck pain and other symptoms. She alleges that a CT angiogram of her brain was performed and the defendants failed to identify and report the presence of an aneurysm.

Sievers claims her aneurysm was not diagnosed until May 16, 2012 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Bryan Hofeld of Hofeld and Schaffner.
