Metra sued by woman who fell while boarding train

Metra

A Cook County woman is suing Metra over claims its poorly maintained floors caused her to fall and sustain injuries.

Julia Gonzalez filed suit April 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Metra, Metropolitan Rail, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. and Regional Transportation Authority.

Gonzalez claims she was boarding a train on the Chicago South Shore Line on April 20, when she fell and injured herself. The suit alleges the defendants failed to keep the entrance and exit of the train free from hazards, resulting in Gonzalez slipping on an accumulation of water.

Gonzalez is seeking damages in excess of $30,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Randy Crumpton.
