A man is suing a group of insurance companies, claiming they refused to pay a valid claim.
Sulejman Dzananovic filed a lawsuit April 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Transguard Insurance Co. of America, TransGuard General Agency Inc., Markel Insurance Co. and Health Special Risk Inc.
According to the suit, Dzananovic worked as an independent contractor driving semitrailers and had an occupational accident disability insurance policy through Transguard and a non-occupational accident disability policy through Markel.
Dzananovic contends he relied upon the recommendations and guidance of TransGuard General Agency in providing him with insurance policies that would protect him in the event of an injury sustained on or off the job.
On October 7, 2012, the suit states, Dzananovic was injured while working and was unable to return to work until March 11, 2013. He alleges the defendants denied coverage of his insurance claims.
His suit further accuses TransGuard General Agency of breaching its duty to him and failing to provide him with sound advice regarding the coverage he sought to purchase.
Dzananovic is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Anthony J. Peraica of Anthony J. Peraica & Associates Ltd.
