Finger amputation spurs another suit against Sears over Craftsman table saw

A Delaware man is suing Sears and others over claims he was injured by a table saw.

Charles Burnett filed a lawsuit April 28 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Sears Roebuck & Co., Sears Holdings Corporation, Rexon Industrial Corp. and Power Tools Specialists Inc., citing product liability.

According to the complaint, Burnett was seriously injured on Jan. 14, while using a Craftsman table saw designed by Rexon Industrial and sold and distributed by Sears and Power Tools Specialists.

Burnett claims the saw came into contact with his fingers and amputated two of them, as the result of the defendants' negligence and failure to implement current safety technology.

Burnett is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Eric D. Pearson of Heygood, Orr & Pearson.

Sears was hit with three lawsuits in early April that make similar claims over Craftsman saws.
