Two patrons are suing over claims they were assaulted by drunk man at an Edgewater establishment.
Raymond L. Rodriguez and Glenn M. Sheehy filed a lawsuit April 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Fireside Pub Inc., doing business as Fireside Restaurant & Lounge, and Yohan Mengstead, citing the Illinois Dram Shop Act, negligence, battery and assault.
According to the complaint, Fireside Pub Inc. owned the lounge at 5739 N. Ravenswood Ave. in Chicago on Nov. 29, when it served alcohol to Mengstead and another person. The plaintiffs claim Mengstead and the other person became so intoxicated they attacked them, causing injuries.
Rodriguez and Sheehy are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum. The plaintiffs are being represented in the case by Jennifer P. Irmen of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen Ltd.
