A couple is suing Wal-Mart, claiming the woman sustained injuries after an employee dropped a glass bottle near the checkout counter at a suburban Sam's Club.

Cheryl Buchanan and John Buchanan filed a lawsuit April 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., individually and doing business as Sam's Club, citing negligence and loss of consortium.

The complaint states Cheryl Buchanan was at the checkout counter of Sam's Club near Route 59 in Naperville when an employee dropped a glass bottle, causing glass to pierce her foot. As a result of the defendant's negligence, the couple claims Cheryl sustained injuries.

The Buchanans are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and are being represented in the case by attorneys at the Shea Law Group.
