Zip line on Wilmette couple's property leads to premises liability suit

Zipline

A Wilmette couple is being sued by a woman who claims she sustained injuries after falling from a zip line on the pair's property.

Elena Porretta filed a lawsuit May 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Samuel Stilp and Regina Stilp, citing negligence and premises liability.

According to the suit, Porretta fell from a zip line on the defendants' property on Greenwood Avenue in Wilmette on July 24, 2012. She accuses the Stilps of failing to maintain the zip line, supervise users and provide safety equipment.

Porretta alleges the defendants' negligence caused her fall, which resulted in pain, disability, medical bills and delayed her schooling.

She is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional amount and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Timothy R. Ocasek of Cooney & Conway.
