Woman slaps dog owners with suit over alleged attack

A Cook County woman is suing the owners of a dog she alleges bit her child.

Angelica Lopez, individually and as mother of her minor daughter, filed a lawsuit May 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jose A. Burgos and Maria G. Burgos, citing negligence and the Illinois Animal Control Act.

Lopez claims she was near the defendants' property at on West 68th Street in Chicago on June 6, when her daughter was attacked and bit by their dog. The suit alleges neither Lopez nor her daughter provoked the dog in any way to warrant the attack, which caused injuries, pain and suffering.

Lopez is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Peter A. Zneimer of Zneimer & Zneimer P.C.
