A woman is suing over claims she was injured on a defective riser at her South Side apartment building.
Bernice Bellamy filed a lawsuit May 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jackson Parkside Apartments Inc. and Woodlawn Community Development Corp., citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Bellamy was a tenant of the defendants' apartment building on South Harper Avenue in Chicago on Sept. 12, when she tripped on a riser near the door and sustained injuries.
She accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the property and keep it free of hazards.
Bellamy is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Mark L. Karno of Mark L. Karno & Associates.
