The administrator of a deceased woman's estate is suing St. Francis Hospital over alleged medical negligence.

George Pecherek, as independent administrator of the Estate of Bogumila Pecherek, filed a lawsuit April 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Marina Amusin, Presence St. Francis Hospital, doing business as St. Francis Hospital, by and through its authorized agents and employees, including but not limited to Amusin and Proper Care Ltd.

The complaint states Bogumila was admitted to St. Francis Hospital on May 16, 2012, and underwent a total knee replacement surgery. Pecherek claims a May 18, 2012 EKG performed on Bogumila showed abnormal results, but that the physicians and staff caring for her did not respond in a timely fashion to the abnormal results.

The suit states a code blue was called on May 18, but the code cart did not contain the necessary instruments to properly incubate Bogumila. As a result of the defendants' negligence, Pecherek contends Bogumila suffered an anoxic brain injury and died on June 20, 2012.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Edward McNabola and Ruth M. Degnan of McNabola Law Group.
