Georgia-Pacific, dozens of other companies hit with asbestos lung cancer suit

A man is suing over claims his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos-containing products made and sold by numerous companies.

Claude and Sandra Jones filed a lawsuit May 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Georgia-Pacific LLC, Joy Technologies Inc. and dozens of other companies.

According to the complaint, Claude was exposed to asbestos-containing products designed, manufactured, sold and marketed by the defendants, while he worked as a machinist from 1948 to 1983, as well during as non-occupational projects.

The suit states Claude diagnosed with lung cancer July 3.

The Jones are seeking damages in excess of jurisdictional limits and are being represented in the case by attorney Charles A. Porretta of Cooney & Conway.
