Woodfield Mall and its management company are being sued by a patron who claims she was injured after falling on allegedly defective steps.
Debra Badillo filed a lawsuit May 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Woodfield Mall LLC and AEW Capital Management Inc., citing negligence.
According to the suit, Badillo fell on steps at the shopping mall at 5 Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg on June 15, 2012. She claims the defendants designed a configuration of steps that were in violation of local, state and federal codes and failed to provide handrails for patrons, causing Badillo to fall and sustain injuries that required medical attention.
Badillo is seeking damages and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Thomas J. Fedick of Harman & Fedick Ltd.
