CTA rider accuses bus driver of closing doors on leg

A woman is suing the city's transit authority over claims she was injured when the doors of a bus closed on her leg.

Fannie Smith filed a lawsuit May 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Smith was boarding a CTA bus on Michigan Avenue on May 23, 2013, when the driver closed the power-assisted door on her leg. She accuses the defendant of negligence and failing to keep the door under control.

Smith is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Scott D. DeSalvo of The Law Office of Scott D. DeSalvo.
