A member of L.A. Fitness is suing over claims he was injured when the stool he was using in the gym's shower collapsed.

John Circelli filed a lawsuit May 23 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Fitness International LLC, doing business as L.A. Fitness, L.A. Fitness International LLC and Fitness and Sports Clubs LLC, citing negligence.

According to the suit, Circelli was taking a shower after a workout session at L.A. Fitness at 8812 S. Cicero Ave. in Oak Lawn on May 28, 2012, when the stool he was using in the handicap accessible shower stall collapsed, causing him severe and permanent injuries.

Circelli is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by attorneys with Lanzillotti Gribben & Marchuk in Berwyn.
