A Des Plaines condo association is suing over claims its treasurer embezzled money.
677 River Condominium Association filed a lawsuit May 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Paul Budzynski, Rosa Budzynski and P&R Lawncare, alleging breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, fraud and a claim for unpaid assessments.
According to the suit, Paul Budzynski was the association's vice president and treasurer beginning in mid-2009. The plaintiff claims it discovered he had been embezzling funds from the association by writing out checks payable to 'cash' for himself.
The association further alleges Paul used its checks to pay for expenses of his landscaping business, falsified expenses that weren't incurred and stole the revenue from the coin operated laundry. It claims he stole more than $50,000 from the condo association.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, court costs and further relief as the court deems just and proper. It is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney David J. Richards of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP.
