A former employee of La Grange Memorial Hospital is suing over claims she was fired over a lie spread by co-workers.
Jehan Joudeh filed a lawsuit May 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Adventist Health Systems/Sunbelt Inc., doing business as La Grange Memorial Hospital, Marc Patenio and Jessica Paisker, alleging defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to the suit, Joudeh worked as a radiology technician at the hospital's Oak Park facility. She claims Paisker often referred to her as "the little Arab princess" and created an environment in which co-workers subjected her to terrorist 'jokes' because of her Palestinian heritage and Muslim religion.
She also alleges Patenio and Paisker spread lies about her failing to follow procedures by wrongfully accusing her of misconduct in an incident in which medical work was performed on a wrong kidney. Joudeh contends she had no involvement in that procedure.
Joudeh asserts the defendants' false accusations ultimately resulted in her May 15, 2013 termination.
She is seeking damages in the amount of $10 million on each of her three counts and is being represented by Burr Ridge attorney Nicholas F. Esposito of Esposito & Staubus LLP.
