Pedestrian slaps city, others with negligence complaint over crosswalk fall

A woman is suing the city and two companies, claiming she was injured due to negligent roadwork on Kimball Avenue.

Mirthelina Navarro filed a lawsuit June 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against City of Chicago, The Peoples Gas Light & Coke Co. and G&V Construction Company Inc.

According to the complaint, the defendants had recently performed gas line work that resulted in a ridge at the intersection of Kimball and Dawson avenues, where Navarro tripped on the ridge while walking in marked crosswalk on June 5, 2013.

Navarro is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Richard J. Zaborsky.
