Two men sue Cosmopolitan National Bank of Chicago, others over staircase fall

Scales

Cosmopolitan National Bank of Chicago and others are being sued by two men who assert they were injured when a staircase railing broke.

James Whitehead and Dennis Henry filed a lawsuit May 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Cosmopolitan National Bank of Chicago, Wallace Johnson, Jesse Proby and Mary Johnson, also known as Mary Proby.

The plaintiffs claim they were invited guests to 6723 S. East End Ave. in Chicago on May 30, 2012, when Whitehead fell to the round and onto Henry after a stair railing broke. They accuse the defendants of failing to maintain and inspect the staircase and allowing it to deteriorate and rot.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $30,000 and court costs. They are being represented by Chicago attorney Loren B. Siegel of Loren B. Siegel and Associates LLC.
