Woman claims doctors failed to diagnose her with skin cancer

Enright

A woman is suing Northshore Medical Group and a pair of doctors over claims they failed to diagnose her mole as malignant melanoma.

Julie Clarke filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against North Shore University Health System, doing business as Northshore Medical Group, and Drs. Martin Kovachevich and Emily Keimig, alleging negligence.

According to the suit, Clarke was under the care of Kovachevich and Keimig for the treatment of a mole on her left leg on May 10, 2011. She claims they failed to properly care for her and perform a biopsy of the mole, which resulted in a missed diagnosis of malignant melanoma.

She accuses Northshore Medical Group of failing to supervise its employees to make sure patients were being properly cared for.

Clarke is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, as well as court costs, and is being represented in the case by attorney Karen McNulty Enright of McNabola Law Group.
