Familydollar

A Cook County woman is suing over claims she had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance after stepping on the pin of a security device at a Family Dollar store.

Justina Caceres filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Family Dollar Inc., alleging premises liability and negligence.

Caceres claims she was at the defendant's store at 3916 W. Fullerton Ave. in Chicago on Aug. 24, 2012, when she stepped on an open security device with a protruding pin. The suit accuses the defendant of failing to properly maintain, inspect and clean up the property and failing to help Caceres after her injury.

Caceres is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Dennis J. Kellogg of Law Offices of Dennis Kellogg.
