Woman hits Macy's with premises liability suit over mannequin

A woman is suing over a department store chain, claiming she was injured after a mannequin fell on her.

Esther Fridman filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Macy's Retail Holding Inc., doing business as Macy's, alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the suit, a mannequin fell on top of Fridman on April 21, 2013, when she was at the Macy's at 1515 Lake Cook Road in Northbrook. She accuses the defendant of failing to properly secure the mannequin within its store and not warning customers the mannequin wasn't secure.

Fridman seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Brion W. Doherty of Stotis & Baird Chartered.
