A center that provides long-term care for medically fragile infants and children is being sued over the death of one of its residents.
Denise Jackson, as administrator of the Estate of Alicia Lynette Jackson, filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Children's Habilitation Center Inc., alleging negligence and wrongful death.
Jackson claims Alicia was a resident of the defendant's facility at 121 W. 154th St. in Harvey on June 9, 2012, when she suffered injuries. The suit states the defendants failed to give Alicia the proper care by failing to supervise her, prevent mucus from plugging her tracheostomy and notice a change in her condition, which alleged resulted in cardiac arrest and her June 9, 2012 death.
Jackson is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Edward M. Rubin of Rubin Machado and Rosenblum Ltd.
