A woman is suing Office Depot, claiming its failure to maintain the escalator at one of its Chicago stores led to her fall and sustain injuries.
Antoinette Calvert filed suit June 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Office Depot Inc.
According to the complaint, Calvert was shopping at the Office Depot store at 6 S. State St., Chicago, on Feb. 6, 2013. While shopping, Calvert claims she was riding the escalator between floors of the store when it suddenly and unexpectedly jerked and came to a stop, causing her to fall and injure her body.
She accuses the defendant of failing to keep the escalator in proper working condition, failing to warn of the dangerous condition and otherwise failing to maintain safe premises.
Calvert is represented by attorneys Terrence M. Quinn and Elise A. Waisbren of Phillips Law Offices in Chicago.
