Worker lodges negligence claim over construction site injury

Brinton

An employee of Hartmann Electric is suing a building owner, claiming he was injured  while working in subpar conditions.

Gary Heck filed a lawsuit June 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Simplexgrinnel LP, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Heck was employed by Hartmann Electric Co. on June 14, 2012, when he was working for Simplexgrinnel on the construction of a building at 2443 Warrenville Road in Lisle.

He claims Simplexgrinnel failed to inspect the premises and work being done, improperly managed the premises, failed to provide a safe place for Heck to work and failed to warn Heck of the dangerous conditions existing on the premise.

The suit alleges Heck injured his left shoulder and right knee when he had to climb over sprinkler pipes and a motor pad to get to his work area.

Heck is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Chicago attorney David H. Brinton of Law Offices of David H. Brinton LLC.
