An ironworker is suing over claims his hand was crushed while working on a bridge construction site in Evanston.
Lawrence Sandoval filed a lawsuit June 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Barnhart Crane and Rigging Co., Kiewit Western Co. and Barnhart Contracting Inc., alleging premises liability.
According to the complaint, Sandoval was an ironworker for S&J Construction working at the Dempster/Chicago Bridge in Evanston on June 23, 2012, when a defective jack and hydraulic lift owned and operated by Barnhart employees crushed his hand.
Kiewit was the general contractor on the project, the suit states.
Sandoval is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorneys Colin J. O'Malley and Bryant M. Greening of Goldberg Weisman & Cairo.
