Heavy equipment worker sues over job injury

Gannon matthew

A heavy equipment worker is suing a construction company, claiming its negligence led him to being injured on the job.

Joseph O’Conner filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Christofano Equipment Co. Inc.

According to the lawsuit, O’Conner was working for Christofano at 1501 W. Pershing Road in Chicago on Jan. 25, 2013, when another employee dropped a breaker bit and it fell on him.

He accuses the defendant of being negligent in positioning the breaker bit on the machine where O’Conner was working, failing to properly train or supervise the other employee, failing to provide a licensed heavy equipment mechanic to replace the bit and not providing a hoist, tools and staff to replace the bit.

O’Conner is seeking damages within the jurisdictional limit of the court and is represented by Matthew M. Gannon of Healy Scanlon Law Firm in Chicago.
