A cyclist is suing a Chicago cab company and driver she claims struck her while riding on Sheffield Avenue.
Lawrence McTaggart filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Olympic Express Corp., Felipe Moreno and Top Cab Co., doing business as Top Cab Association.
According to the suit, McTaggart was biking on Sheffield Avenue on Sept. 8, when a cab, driven by Moreno, turned west into a 7-Eleven convenience store and into the bike path, where it collided with her.
She claims Moreno failed to look, check the lane, use due care, give warning, use his mirrors, yield the right-of-way and help McTaggart after the collision.
McTaggart is seeking damages in an amount that exceeds minimal jurisdictional limits and is represented by William T. Gibbs of Corboy & Demetrio P.C. of Chicago.
