Trip over rolled up carpet in woman's kitchen spurs lawsuit

Carpet

A woman is suing over claims she sustained injuries after tripping on rolled up carpet in a Chicago resident's kitchen.

Dorothy Sexton filed a lawsuit June 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Lorna Young, alleging negligence.

Sexton claims she suffered injuries on Nov. 27, 2012, when she tripped and fell on rolled up carpet in the defendant's kitchen at on West Potomac Avenue in Chicago. The suit accuses Young of failing to maintain her kitchen area, allowing carpeting to be rolled up in the walk area and not removing it.

Sexton is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Fred I. Benjamin of Benjamin and Shapiro Ltd.
