Woman slaps CTA with suit over bus driver's abrupt stop

A rider of Chicago's transit system is suing, claiming she sustained injuries when the driver abruptly braked.

Cynthia Filbin filed a lawsuit June 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Transit Authority and Jane Doe, individually and as an agent of the CTA.

According to the complaint, Filbin was a passenger on a bus traveling northbound on Sheridan Road near its intersection with Morse Avenue in Chicago on Dec. 3, when the bus driver abruptly applied the brakes, causing her to fall. .

Filbin is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by attorney Eryk A. Folmer of Stephen J. Schlegel Ltd. in Chicago.
