Patron's slip and fall lands YMCA in court

A woman is suing after she allegedly slipped and fell at a YMCA in Chicago.

Beverly Williams filed suit June 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Young Men's Christian Association of Chicago, also known as YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.

According to the complaint, Williams was at the YMCA at 3039 E. 91st St. in Chicago on June 12, 2012, when she slipped and fell. Williams claims she violently struck the floor, sustaining personal injury, pain and suffering. She also alleges she incurred medical expenses and has a diminished earning capacity as a result of the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the floor and failing to warn people the floor was unreasonably slippery.

Williams is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorneys at Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy Ltd.
