The Chicago Park District is facing a lawsuit over a slide at Columbus Park.

Kyna Stewart, individually and as mother and next of friend of her minor daughter, filed suit July 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Park District.

According to the complaint, Stewart's daughter was playing on a slide at Columbus Park, near Adams Boulevard and Menard Drive in Chicago, on July 23, 2013, when she fell and sustained injuries after reaching for a missing rail.

Stewart accuses the park district of failing to repair the slide despite being given notice of the defective equipment.

She is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs, and is represented by Chicago attorney David Nemeroff of Nemeroff Law Offices Ltd.
