A man is suing over claims he developed mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos.

G. Thomas Nabors filed a lawsuit July 28 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Henry Pratt Co., Cleaver-Brooks Inc. and dozens of other companies.

According to the complaint, Nabors was exposed to asbestos in products designed, manufactured, marketed, distributed and sold by the defendant companies or their predecessors while employed as a welder and pipefitter from 1970 to 2014.

Nabors claims he was also exposed to asbestos through his father, who worked as a steelworker, between 1952 and 1970. The suit states Nabors was diagnosed with mesothelioma on Jan. 20.

Nabors is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by attorney Daniel T. Ryan of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
