Cyclist slaps taxi companies with claim over alleged collision

Carbike

A man who claims he was injured while riding his bicycle is suing to recover medical costs.

Zachary Auble filed suit July 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Carriage Cab Corp., Chicago Elite Cab Corp. and Royal 3 CCC Chicago Taxi Association Inc.

According to the complaint, Auble was riding his bicycle on West Chicago Avenue on June 19, 2013, when he was struck by a maroon SUV taxi and was knocked off his bike, causing severe and permanent injuries.

Auble claims the vehicle fled the scene of the accident, but that its markings indicated it was operating under the ownership of the defendants.

The defendants' agent is accused of failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to leave a safe distance when trying to pass the plaintiff's bicycle and failing to exercise due care to avoid the collision.

Auble is seeking damages not less than $50,000, plus costs, and is represented by Chicago attorney Mark Silverman of the Mark Silverman Law Office Ltd.
