A man is suing over claims his leg was permanently injured during a hip replacement surgery.

Jesus Torres filed a medical malpractice lawsuit July 28 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Peter Snitovsky and Alex Orthopaedics LLC.

According to the complaint, Torres underwent hip replacement surgery, performed by Snitovsky, on June 25, 2013, when a misplaced screw caused damage to a major artery and heavy bleeding.

Torres claims he sustained permanent damage to his left hip and leg due to the negligence of the defendants.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Jeffrey J. Tallis of Faklis & Tallis in Chicago.
