By Annie Cosby | Aug 15, 2014

A man is suing a pair of landlords for negligence, claiming a piece of drywall fell on him when he went to go pick up his belongings following a fire.

James Brown filed a lawsuit July 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Donald Dickinson and Cheryl Holcomb-Dickinson, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, a fire started by faulty electrical wiring damaged the property Brown rented from the Dickinsons on South Woodlawn Avenue in Aurora. He claims he was ordered on July 28, 2012, to remove his personal belongings from the premises and when he did on Aug. 1, he sustained injuries after a piece of drywall fell on him.

Brown is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder LLC in Chicago.
