A Cook County man is suing a pair of companies over claims he got a blood clot and infection after his ankle bracelet was put on too tight.

Pawel Zablotny filed a lawsuit Aug. 4 in the Cook County Circuit Court against The Geo Group and its wholly owned subsidiary Behavioral Interventions Inc.

According to the complaint, BI personnel, in the course of their employment, improperly placed a GPS ankle bracelet on Zablotny on Aug. 17, 2012. He claims he repeatedly complained about the discomfort of the bracelet to BI personnel at two required interviews and that they failed to respond.

As a result of the allegedly improperly placed ankle bracelet, Zablotny asserts he had to undergo considerable treatment, including at an emergency room and subsequent hospitalization, for a blood clot and infection.

Zablotny is seeking more than $100,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney William V. Saracco.
