A Cook County woman is suing over claims her apartment became infested with bedbugs when an adjacent apartment's infestation spread.
Renetta Harrington, individually and as the parent of her minor son, filed a lawsuit July 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jamgar LLC and North Star Trust Co., alleging premises liability.
According to the complaint, Harrington and her son lived in an apartment owned by the defendants on West Maypole Avenue in Chicago, which on Nov. 1, 2012 was discovered to be infested with bedbugs.
She accuses the defendants of failing to prevent an infestation or informing her when an adjacent apartment became infested.
