The state agency is suing for a parcel of land it asserts is needed to improve Interstate 90.
The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, for and on behalf of the People of the State of Illinois, filed a complaint for condemnation July 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against South Clearbrook Inc., as well as unknown owners and non-record claimants.
According to the complaint, the highway authority outlined steps in March to rebuild and widen the eastern corridor of Interstate 90, but has been unsuccessful in its attempts to purchase a parcel of land owned by South Clearbrook needed for the project.
The highway authority is seeking rights to the property and is being represented in the case by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan; David Goldberg, general counsel for the highway authority; and Special Assistant Attorney General Michele S. Gonzales.
