Man blames Niles restaurant for serving alcohol to patron who beat him

Becker1

A man has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese restaurant in Niles, claiming it served alcohol to patron who got drunk and hit him in the face with a beer glass or bottle.

Suk C. Moon filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Twin Dragon of Illinois Inc., doing business as Twin Dragon, and Kevin B. Lee.

According to the complaint, Moon was a patron at the Twin Dragon on Dec. 8, when Lee was also a patron there for the purpose of consuming alcohol. Moon claims Lee became intoxicated and as a result, beat and caused him severe injury.

Moon accuses the Twin Dragon of being negligent in allowing Lee to be present in a quarrelsome mood, not removing him from the premises when he became quarrelsome, failing to provide adequate security and not training personnel to determine when a patron was becoming intoxicated and should be cut off from alcohol.

His suit includes a count alleging negligence and one under the state's Dram Shop against Twin Dragon, as well as a battery count against Lee.

He is seeking a judgment against both defendants for $30,000 and is is represented by Chicago attorney Leonard S. Becker.
