A Cook County font software company is suing a media company it claims breached the terms of their user agreement my modifying its software.
Berthold Direct Corp. filed a lawsuit Aug. 8 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Scripps Networks Interactive Inc.
According to the complaint, Scripps in 2006 purchased a traditional end user license to use certain Berthold typeface font computer software programs, but breached the license by modifying the font software and utilizing it for external business use, both of which are forbidden by the user agreement.
Berthold is seeking termination of the license, damages and costs of suit. It is being represented in the case by attorneys Vincent L. DiTommaso, Peter S. Lubin and Andrew C. Murphy of DiTommaso Lubin P.C. in Oak Brook.
