A man claims he sustained serious injuries after slipping on a wet floor at O’Hare International Airport.
Louis Belmont filed a lawsuit July 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against United Service Companies, the City of Chicago and McDonald’s.
In his complaint, Belmont alleges he was exiting gate H11B and walking along Terminal 3 on Dec. 4, when he noticed a cleaning crew washing the floors. He claims he stepped to the far left to avoid them, but slipped on a wet floor when he was across from gate H9.
He contends the floor was wet from liquids that had leaked out of the garbage disposal bins nearby, but there were no caution cones.
In addition to physical pain and mental anguish, Belmont contends the incident forced him to incur medical costs and prevented him from engaging in normal activities.
Belmont accuses the defendants of creating an unsafe condition, failing to properly maintain the wet floor and causing the area to be dangerous.
Belmont is seeking more than $90,000, plus costs, and is being represented by attorney Cornelius E. McKnight of McKnight, Kitzinger & Pravdic in Chicago.
