A Burbank nursing home is facing a lawsuit from a woman who claims she fractured her ankle when an employee pushed her in a wheelchair to lunch.
Theresa Rzeszutko filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against THI of Illinois at Brentwood LLC, individually and doing business as Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center.
According to the complaint, Rzeszutko was a resident at the defendant nursing home on West 87th Street on Aug. 22, 2012, when an employee placed her in her wheelchair to take her to lunch.
Rzeszutko claims her left leg fell off the wheelchair's footrest and struck the floor while being wheeled to the cafeteria, which the employee did not notice for several feet, causing her foot to be dragged along the floor and her ankle to sustain a fracture.
The defendant is accused of negligence and violating the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.
Rzeszutko is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Steven Trakhtman of Law Offices of Todd A. Heller & Associates in Deerfield.
